Thomas Ibsen Mette Schelde is one of the young designers of a new generation from denmark. I have followed her for many years, and always been drawn to her ability to shape very simple and graphic. I my opnion she is one of the biggest talents we have in Scandinavia for the time.

MUUUZ The Planet Table Lamp features a unique design signed by Mette Schelde. How do its soft and geometric shapes influence the light ?

Thomas Ibsen The light is indirect, meaning you do not see the light souce. The LED light is simply bounched into the disc and then reflected out. The fact that the design of the lamp is just as beautyfull to look at when the light is off as when it is on, makes it an interesting take on a simple table lamp.

MUUUZ The Planet Table Lamp is characterised by a potential customization and a surprising mode of use, which make it a playful object. How have these elements been discussed at the time of creation of the lamp ?

Thomas Ibsen The fact that you can dim the volume of the light coming out, by turning the frontal disc makes it a playful experience. We could easily have adapted a touch function, but by actually keeping the fysical experince of turning the disc with you hand, you actually interact with the design. Also the frontal disc is attachd with magnets. this meakes it possible to change colors and combine colours.

MUUUZ What would be the perfect place to display the Planet Table Lamp ?

Thomas Ibsen For me the perfect place to display the Planet table lamp would be on a desk for late hour working, or besides a bed for reading. My hope that private young people will understand the design and buy the Planet lamp to keep and use for many many years.
